Reports are coming in of some of the forsaken acting strangely in ratchet, they attacked the goblins there then ran off, unfortunately we don't have much information yet, Thrall has send some grunts to search for these forsaken and try and discover what they are up to.
23rd of Oct. 10:45am
Messengers sent to Ratchet have failed to return, the grunts Thrall sent after the rebelling forsaken have also disappeared without a trace, something strange is going on.
23rd of Oct. 11:22am
A survivor from ratchet turned up at the Crossroads a short time ago, her skin was blistered and covered in boils. She spoke incoherently, but from what could be gleamed from her the forsaken who attacked ratchet came on the ship from booty bay and began spreading a plague. Its known that the forsaken have been trying to find a new way to plague humans that would not leave them under the Lich kings grasp. It seems that they are betraying the Horde now that they have succeeded.
The goblin died soon after arriving, however she soon rose as a ghoul and attacked the Tauren that was treating her wounds. A group of Druids, shamans and priests are heading out from Orgrimmar to Ratchet soon, I'm going to join them by the sound of it they will need all the help they can get.
23rd of Oct. 1:48pm
We visited ratchet and some things became very clear, firstly not the magic of the light, the elements or of nature could cure those who had already turned, the only cure was to kill them. Secondly these are not Forsaken, they are completely mindless all they do is charge after any living thing they see and try to eat it. Some of them were even seen to be eating themselves until they caught sight of us!
We killed many undead here, but there should have been more, ratchet is a thriving port and only a few dozen undead remained when we arrived. One of the druids was bitten quite badly, her fur immediately started to fall out around the wound. However the priests were able to remove the infected blood from her, we put the infected blood into an empty vial that I was carrying, perhaps it will shed some light into what we are dealing with. Everyone expects the worse, they suspect Arthas is back!
We are now resting in Crossroads, the priests are trying to tend to the Tauren that was attacked by the goblin earlier, but they fear it might be too late, he has been isolated as a safety precaution.
23rd of Oct. 2:42pm
It is lucky we caged that Tauren when we did, he turned and was desperately clawing at anyone who passed near him, after about half an hour he began to bite at himself. Obviously these ghouls aren't designed to be long term warriors, their thirst for flesh is their downfall. The Tauren has almost completely consumed itself now, almost only bones are left
23rd of Oct. 3:04pm
The Tauren was barely more than a skeleton gnawing at its own bones when suddenly it stopped, stared forward blankly and then burst into shards of bone! This gruesome explosion was not something I ever wish to see again, moreover one of the shards cut my arm! A troll priest was quick to tend to me and the infection was removed. Several other people were caught by the shards, but with care we have extracted their infected blood, I'm now carrying over half a dozen vials of infected blood, the vial we collected from Ratchet has changed to a murky-brown colour and is giving off a faint glow. I wish I had more time to study it, but we are busy packing up to leave for Orgrimmar
23rd of Oct. 4:32pm
Back in Orgrimmar, things still seem fairly normal here, fortunately the infection hasn't spread to the Orcish capital. There is a lot of talk though, apparently the infection is spreading up the southern end of the Eastern kingdoms as well as in Kalimdor. I've started to examine the vials we recovered from plague victims, the results are disconcerting. I need more time to work with them, several other alchemists are assisting me now, but early results aren't promising.
23rd of Oct. 6:23pm
Some members of the argent dawn have flown in to assist our priests and shamans, there have been a few cases of people being infected in Orgrimmar but all have been cured so far, more samples of infected blood are trickling in, but we have had so little time. The plague seems to start by infecting the blood and then using the blood stream to carry itself to the brain, unfortunately we know little more than that so far. We need more time.
23rd of Oct. 7:21pm
Refugees have arrived from Crossroads, it was attacked by the undead, an army of them and not just humanoids, the beasts of the barrens are being affected too! Thrall has ordered for many of the armies oversea to return home, all refugees are being quarantined to try and prevent infection. Orgrimmars great gates are being closed, were officially in lock down. Supplies have been requested from Silvermoon, we are not prepared for a siege, any food we can get is needed.
23rd of Oct. 7:52pm
Some of the refugees from Crossroads were indeed infected, between our shamans and the members of the argent dawn that came to help us the infection was removed, however the victims are still suffering and have lost a lot of blood. On the bright side this has provided us with more samples to study. Apparently the plague is getting harder to cure by magical means, perhaps it is developing a resistance, we need to compare our early samples with the ones taken recently. If the plague is becoming more resistant then it only makes finding an alchemical cure more vital.
23rd of Oct. 9:08pm
Some undead have begun to attack the gates of Orgrimmar, not many yet and they have been easily picked off by archers on the battlements, this is only the beginning, I doubt things will get any better soon.
23rd of Oct. 9:45pm
We've sent a few mages to Outland to collect more herbs for our experiments, the high level of magic found in mana thistles seems to disrupt the plague, though more so in our earlier samples, it seems that the plague is becoming more resistant. Still we think we can soon provide a potion that can at least slow the effects and give our priests more time to cure the victims.
23rd of Oct. 11:22pm
One of the mages has returned infected, somehow the plague has gotten to Outland! Thrall has sent some forces to assist the Mag'har and a quarantine has been set up around the portal from Shattrah, things are getting worse.
However we have successfully administrated our potion to the troll mage who was infected, it has proven somewhat effective, though the troll's arm is covered in boils it has stopped spreading, he is now in the care of the argent dawn. We are making as many of the potions as our resources allow, but are still working on a cure.
23rd of Oct. 11:43pm
Supplies have come in from Silvermoon, crates of food, finally a cause to celebrate! Some of the alchemists have gone to get their share, but I can't eat while work of such importance needs to be done. I'm not the only one either, besides this food needs to last us a while, we can't just all go and eat is as soon as it arrives.
24rd of Oct. 12:22am
How could we have been so blind? We've seen it all before and yet we were so confidant in our own plans that we forgot the lessons of the past, the supplies form Silvermoon were infected, many people have eaten from them, I would estimate that a tenth of Orgrimmar is now being quarantined, we've sent our entire stock of potions to buy the priests and shamans time! We're running out of mana thistle.
I've been sent out of the alchemy lab, ordered to get some rest. I'm not sure if I can sleep with all this going on, but perhaps a few hours lying down with my eyes shut might help a little...
