The end of humanity as we know it!

To be fair I'm only talking about the end of half of humanity. Overpopulation and a lack of resources are, of course, a big problem these days, but some clever scientists have come up with a solution. I'm not talking about any wishy-washy solutions such as a slow transfer to green energy and more efficient foods in terms of land use, nor am I talking about genetically engineering crops so that they can grow in previously uninhabitable parts of the planet.

In case you haven't heard the details some crazy biologists have managed to produce male sex cells in the lab! Men have long only been useful for helping us pump out babies, and now we have finally mastered technology enough to replace them!

Ladies, our faith in science has been rewarded, it's time to rise up and overthrown the overburdened maleocracy! We don't need them and without men there's enough power for everyone!

Now as you can see the early batch they sent me to study have grown to a slightly larger than normal size and I did have to move them from my Petri dish to my pond, but it is only early days so far and we will master this technology.

If I'm going to be serious at some point in this post, this is great news for infertile men everywhere, as these sperm cells are made from stem cells that means that they retain the parents DNA, which means that once this science is mastered (and if it's made legal to use to create a baby) infertile men will be able to have children that are genetically there's. Actually potentially same-sex female couples could use the process to have children that are genetically both of theirs too, the possibilities of mad science are endless

They so go out on a song: so enjoy! (make sure you right click and save as, for some reason the site doesn't seem to like direct playing)

I wonder what country will try to successfully use the lab sperm to grow a human first.

Yay science -.-

I knew we shouldn't have given them vibrators.

@GHOSTKID: I'm afraid we'll have to use human sperm, since labs are usually sterile.

Men will never be replaced. After all, who's going to leave the toilet seat up? Who's going to lose the remote?

Using artificial gametes to create a fertile embryo would largely only be a test of scientific capability. Sperm cells aren't exactly a rare resource, somewhere between 50-500 million cells per time. So if the cells were scientifically matched up 1 sperm per egg it would take 1 (very)fertile man 7 sperm donations to fertilize every woman in the world!

Of course 9 months later he's in serious trouble...

@Pies: MY lab seems to be very fertile. 6 puppies!
