My internet connection is starting to be beyond a joke, lets start with my laptop, this connects to the internet fine but if I stop using the internet for around 10 minutes then I have to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless connection to be allowed back on. To be fair this might be part of the router's problem, but if so its more than I know how to adjust.
Now moving on to my main pc, its here where the problem is more subtle... You see back, a long time ago, We only had two pc's in the house and we used a wired router to connect them both to the internet, back then we were on NTL which has now been bought out by virgin media. There was a strange phenomenon when playing WoW that had me disconnect in some areas when handing in a quest, the act of handing in a quest was causing my Internet connection to fail. When we got the wireless router I originally started by having my pc still connected by wire to the router however the same problem persisted, so instead I connected both my wire and wirelessly and suddenly the problem vanished, to this day I'm not sure how why the wired connection would fail on quest hand it but the problems solved everything's dandy with my internet now right?
Well not exactly, you see while uploading youtube videos I have a mighty upload speed of... wait for it... 60kb/s compare this to my ability to download at 1.2mb/s I'm quite shocked at the difference. Should an internet provider really give you an upload speed that's a twentieth of the download speed? To make things worse it also seems that the internet has resumed its random disconnecting if Its used for too long. Too long for example being the 4 hours it takes to upload a decent quality video file to youtube. So sometimes when uploading I get 2-3 hours into an upload then have to start over! Partially though I blame this on youtube not having a system where you can upload video files piece by piece, when they moved onto HD videos they really needed to compensate for slower upload speeds like mine.
To sum things up I have to say virgin media are aptly named:- you see with a virgin modem every time you connect to the internet it'll be like your first time! One of you going fast the other too slow, awkward, sweaty, somewhat stressful and ultimately not as satisfying as people suggested it would be!
On a slightly lighter note the first part of my My life as a dark lord play-through is up and available here for those interested.
Edit: video 2 and 3 now available.

Oh wow...that sucks. I'd switch ISPs if you can.
Well I'm only at home for another 2 months, then I'm off to uni. Presumably there I'll have a far better net connection.
perhaps I should sacrifice video quality for file size?
Virgins seem great until you try one. Then you notice it's just average and often ends up in tears anyway.
